April Fools Day

2 more days from now, it’ll be another prank-y day for most people in the US. April Fool’s day will just be another day here in Syria. It’s being celebrated on the 1st day of April. I can’t see any significant reason to celebrate it since it’s mainly for fun and practical pranks. Those of you who will treat this day for fun, just make sure it will not do harm to other people.

April Fools' Day is celebrated in the Western world on the 1st of April of every year. Sometimes referred to as All Fools' Day, April 1 is not a legal holiday, but is widely recognized and celebrated as a day which tolerates practical jokes and general foolishness. The day is marked by the commission of good humoured or funny jokes, hoaxes and other practical jokes of varying sophistication on friends, family members, teachers, neighbors, work associates, etc. ~source

Freebie Hunting

I was reading an important review about lipozene side effects when I came across these wonderful templates from Scrap Matters while browsing over my Google reads too (multitasking! Wohoo!). I’ve been a freebie hunter for quite some time. I wanted to buy some kits but I don’t have any CC right now to purchase them online. I guess I just have to wait then until I can set up my new Pay Pal account too.

These for example are one of my favorites kits right now. Scrapping mojo hasn’t visited me for quite some time. I guess, it’s on his round right now. For the mean time, I’m searching and searching for freebie kits.

If you have any site to recommend, please leave me a link on this post then. I thank you in advance.

Playing Billiards

I remember the time when Hubby and some of his friends played billiards last year. This photo was part of my 365 Project for the year 2010. I then realized how happy it will be to have a club house around us somewhere like the place where we played billiards before. I wonder where the club house organizers take billiards supplies?

DAY 117

In the Philippines, billiards is loved by many. It’s like a past time for many especially those kids in their college years. Why? because aside from the logic that you’ll get from it, you need to have technique to play and win in this game.

Random Updates

I was doing a review about some medical devices such as audiometer when I realized that it’s almost the end of the month. It’ll be our 3rd month here in Syria. How do I feel? I feel confused and at the same time content.

Confused because that means me and hubby have been jobless for 3 months now. Content because in spite of that, we’re together. I’m confused because I’m loving my new work as a SAHM, but at the same time, I’m thinking of my parents back home.

We’re waiting for some updates and I do hope that there will be a good light at the end of these long tunnel that we are right now.

Vintage Cupcakes

Wow! It looks really really yummy!

Now a days (especially in the Philippines), a lot of celebrations like baptism, birthdays and wedding souvenirs – they opt to have these cute cupcake designs. Even tower cakes are being done mostly by cupcakes only.

Last year, when we celebrated Julia’s 2nd birthday, a friend was offering me to order cupcakes as a souvenir. But I was running out of time with the preparation of Julia’s birthday so I wasn’t able to do so as much as I wanted to order. I even had my niece prepare all the necessary things for Julia’s birthday.

Insha Allah, God willing I’ll learn to cook cupcakes so that I can prepare them myself for Julie’s home coming. Why not right?

A Lead to Happiness

Isn’t it nice if we all feel happy and content with what we have in life not asking too much or asking on the things that we don’t have? Put yourself on the shoes of the people who lost their houses because of the Tsunami in Japan, and still you’re asking and praying to have the latest edition of Luis Vuitton bag next door?

Be content and read on some tips on how to lead a happy life:

Understand what it is that will make you happy.

Make a plan for attaining goals that you believe will make you happy.

Surround yourself with happy people.

When something goes wrong try to figure out a solution instead of wallowing in self pity.

Spend a few minutes each day thinking about the things that make you happy.

It’s also important to take some time each day to do something nice for yourself.

Finding the humor in situations can also lead to happiness.

Maintaining your health is another way to achieve happiness.

Finally, it is important to understand that you deserve happiness.

Saturday 9: You Were Meant For Me

1. Have you ever felt that you were “made” for someone or some purpose?

I’m sure that I’m made for my husband.

2. What do you do when you have a problem that you can't do anything about it?

What’s done is done. We can’t turn back time. Better move on and do something right and learn from the mistake instead. And most of all, pray.

3. If marijuana were to be legalized, do you think it should be taxed?

I don’t even agree that it should legalized, haller!

4. What is one thing you should never do on a first date?

I’ve learned one thing from watching “Sleepless in Seattle”. Tom Hanks said “Ask a girl for a coffee date only. By that way, you’ll get to know the person then you can see if you can go and invite her for dinner.” – I guess that’s a good tip. Ask the girl for coffee only.

5. If someone (at gunpoint) forced you to receive a portrait tattoo of someone, who would it be?

I have no idea, LOL!

6. Is tomorrow going to be a good day?

Tomorrow is Sunday. It’s a family day back home. Here, it’s just a normal day for us.

7. Anything fabulous happen to you last night?

Yeah, I watched “Tangled” for the nth time with dear Julia.

8. For a few years in a row, you receive a nice tax refund: do you make an adjustment with your payroll deduction so they’ll take less, or do you leave it that way so that you can continue to receive the big check every spring?

It’s been like 4 years since I received a tax refund. Don’t know the feeling anymore.

9. When was the last time you had butterflies in your stomach?

When we took my Lebanese Passport from the Foreign Affairs in Lebanon. I couldn’t believe that I hold a Lebanese citizen now. Alhamdulillah. Thank God.

Ideal Investment

Have you ever wondered on investing something on let’s say us coins? Platinum, Silver and Gold are the most precious ones there is in the US right now. So if you’re into protecting your private wealth, might as well invest on them. For me, if given the chance, me and Hubby will not make second thoughts on doing it. Probably for now, we’ll just have to redirect our selves first on the right track then we can decide on where to invest our wealth – as if we have too much. Just thinking positively here.

Wednesday Happy Thoughts

It’s Wednesday night and it’s raining since this morning. I can’t keep up with this weather. MIL said that the change of weather was because of the spring season. I can’t wait for summer. I miss the sun.

And so to sum up for this week’s Wednesday Happy Thoughts:

1. I was able to prepare Chicken Afritada for the first time. My in-laws love any food with tomato sauce so they all liked it.

2. Hubby bought a new set of kiddie CD’s for Julia. One of them are episodes from Elmo’s World of Sesame Street. So Julia’s attention are into it.

3. We found out that Julia can count in Spanish – imagine that?

4. SIL will be coming over to Dubai to surprise her husband who just left recently for work. Her kids will be on a holiday for 4 days so they decided to visit him. He just left the other day. SIL and the kids will be following him supposedly once the school year end for her little girl by May. And at the same time, her husband will be fixing their Family visa too. But because of the holiday, she’ll be coming over there. She mentioned that her last ride on the plane was last 1985 – a flight from Jeddah to Syria. And now, she’ a little bit scared of the experience that awaits her. I’m so happy for her and her family. She deserves a good fun since she only stay in the house most of the times.

5. HSH is being painted as per hubby. But the final coating will be done on the last part before we moved in

6. I uploaded the 4D-US videos of baby Julie over my Flickr account – finally.

7. I was able to do my 36th layout for this year. Yahoo! Digital scrapbooking mojo is here.

What were you doing 10 years ago?

Wow! This is way too long for me to think. I guess, 10 years ago I was still still working as a part time fast food cashier at a Japanese restaurant way back home. My parents that time can’t afford anymore for me to go to the University so I had to work for a few months. But lucky me, because a church mate of ours offered a big help to support my school fees. So the next school semester, that was May, I went back to school and finished the remaining credits I need to complete in order to graduate. The next year, thank God Alhadmulillah I was able to graduate.

Time does fly really fast. Thinking of this makes me feel so grateful for the things that happened 10 years ago. Another “That’s My Answer” for today.

0 com

As far as intentions go, do you think that you are often misunderstood?

Yeah I think so. Some people think that I’m snobbish. Some say that I don’t deserve some of the good things that’s happening to me right now. But I don’t care a thing about what other people say about me. Everyone is entitled for his/her opinion. In the end, most of the times they are the one who’s misunderstood. I myself misunderstood a lot of people. I guess, it’s normal especially if you’re not that close to that person. You’ll never know a person’s identity unless you’ve spoken to him a million times and is with him/her for a long time.

I only know one thing though, Allah God is my witness. And I don’t need to explain myself to everyone. Not unless he/she’s a judge, hahaha!

That’s for this’ week’s “That’s My Answer”.

Home Is Where The Heart Is

It’s been 2 months now since we arrived here in Syria. My life is adjusting just the way it should be. And I’m happy that everything is in placed. I consider Syria as my 2nd home – and home is where my heart should be. I miss Philippines though, but the country doesn’t matter for as long as I’m with my husband and my baby.

Well, 2 months of looking over the house we’re currently building is such a big task for hubby right now. FIL left last month and he handed over all the pending construction jobs needed to finish one of our major projects. I’m so proud that hubby’s doing well with the pressure. He make sure to drop by and look over things everyday. We’re really looking forward to move-in in a couple of weeks. Thank God Allah for the blessings and the continuous support for our daily needs even though we’re both jobless right now. God has his own reasons and we have faith that in time, we’ll start all over again.

Saturday 9: Medicate

I haven’t been doing my Saturday memes. But before doing some task online, might as well go ahead and answer these random questions for fun.

1. Do you take a lot of medication?

- I’m pregnant. I do take folic acid for everyday intake.

2. Name one of your flaws and tell us about it.

- I don’t know how to dive. Believe it or not, I went to a swimming lesson for summer when I was still in studying in HS. Huh! Ironic.

3. Have you ever won first place? If yes, tell us about your victory!

- Nope.

4. Who is the last person to make you smile? What was happening?

- My little girl of course, who keeps on amazing us with her new tricks. Such as racing up with her grandma going to her bed if she founds out that MIL is about to sleep.

5. Describe a time when you should have tried harder.

- I should’ve tried harder to sing during a competition that I joined when I was still studying. When I lost, I never tried joining any singing contest – even if I wanted to.

6. What are you best at?

- I’m best at eating, LOL!

7. If someone was going to make a movie or TV show about your life, who would play you and why?

- I don’t know really. But I hope it’ll be a big time movie if ever.

8. Name 3 things that you think are strange.

- Selfish people who think for themselves only and is happy fighting over some things not worth fighting for.

- I find it ode for being where I am right now. I never imagined that I’ll be here.
